This “ambience” museum is located in the apartment of a rich Jewish family of bankers, the Morpurgo.
The rooms still have their original furniture, pottery, books and pictures which reflect faithfully the eclectic style of the period and create a homely and sophisticated atmosphere.
In 1943, according to the wish expressed in the testament of Mario Morpurgo, the home was donated to the Municipality of Trieste; the refined collector of art and oriental prints left to the town a precious testimony of 19th century middle-class taste and preferences.
