Jewish Museum

Going up Via del Monte, between the Jewish primary School and the ramps leading to the Parco della Rimembranza, at street numbers 5 and 7 there is a 500 years old building used originally  as Jewish hospital and then as headquarters of Jewish primary schools. During the 1930s it housed a small synagogue of Polish-Ashkenazim rite and was frequented by refugees from Germany and Eastern Europe.

Today it is home to the Carlo and Vera Wagner Museum. The Museum has a permanent exhibition of Jewish ritual artefacts, silverware, fabrics, furniture, documents and ritual objects owned by the community and collected during the dismantling of the first synagogues (or schools) of Trieste after the opening of the Main Temple.
