A journey through centuries of Jewish history in Friuli Venezia Giulia, with pleasant enogastronomical tastings. At the historical Caffè San Marco in Trieste you will taste a traditional Austro-Hungarian cake, in a Trieste farm the kosher oil, while in the Collio Goriziano area you will experience the famous Friulian wines famous all over the world and the kosher spirits produces by a famous local distillery.

ITINERARY
Day 1 - TRIESTE: Arrival in Trieste and check-in at the hotel. In the afternoon guided tour of the city centre, characterised by beautiful palaces realized in different architectural styles. Dinner in restaurant. Overnight in Trieste.
Day 2 - TRIESTE: Breakfast. Guided tour of Jewish Trieste, which includes the ex ghetto area, nowadays rich in bric-a-brac shops, the visit to Synagogue and Jewish Museum “Carlo e Vera Wagner”. During the itinerary you will stop at Caffè San Marco to taste a traditional cake. Lunch. In the afternoon visit to the Jewish cemetery of Trieste, which reflect a whole social universe, and Risiera di San Sabba, the only Nazi extermination camp in Italy, today national monument. A visit to a local farm which produces kosher oil will follow. Dinner. Overnight in Trieste.
Day 3 - GORIZIA - CIVIDALE: Breakfast. Transfer to Gorizia and visit to the historical part of the city, including the synagogue, which nowadays is not more used for the service, and the Jewish Museum “Jerusalem of Isonzo”. Transfer to the near cemetery of Rožna Dolina in Slovenia, where grave stones of family Morpurgo and of the painter and philosopher Michelstädter are preserved. Lunch in the Collio area and wine tasting. Transfer to Cividale del Friuli for a visit to the city centre, the area of the former ghetto, the Longobard Temple and the National Archaeological Museum which preserves remains of the Longobard period, and gravestones of the ancient Jewish cemetery. Visit to a distillery which produces kosher spirits. Transfer back to Trieste. Dinner. Overnight in Trieste.
Day 4: Breakfast. Visit to Miramare Castle, elegant residence of the Archduke Maximilian of Habsburg, which will surprise you with its imperial charm. Transfer to the Karst area to visit the spectacular Giant Grotto, the largest and most interesting tourist cavern in the world. Visit toe laboratory of a local sculptor who carves the Karst stone with a very personal style, creating genuine works of art, will follow. Lunch. Departure.
